INSANE brown trout report 4/27 & 4/28

On Friday night we were joined by my friends Dave and Brian for a short trip out for some browns.  We fished for about two hours and and boated about a dozen browns.  We fished both east and west of the chute in anywhere from 5-15 FOW.  Dave's KA-BOOM shiners in black/silver and firetiger were the best sticks for us, and Dreamweaver glo frogs and a prototype NK watermelon w/grape dots were the best spoons.  We had a great night.  It was great to catch up with Dave and Brian since I hadn't seen them since last fall.

Here's the few Dave and Brian brought home for the smoker:

On Saturday, we entered the Shawn's Marina brown trout derby and were joined by Brian and his brother Joe.  We fished for about 5 hours and just murdered the browns.  We had a few coho's mixed in too.  From the moment we put the first rod in the water until the time we called it a day we couldn't keep all of our rods in the water.  It was a total Chinese firedrill all day long!  What a crazy day.  Here's a picture of the crew hard at work trying to keep our rods in the water:

I have to tell you that the new boat is a fish-catching machine!  We ran 10 rods today and could easily run more.  There's just SO MUCH room on this boat.  I can't wait to get the new Cannon downriggers on it and get out for some salmon with it.  I'm sure you'll love fishing on it just as much as we do.

Dave's KA-BOOM shiners were the stickbait of choice again today and just about every color we put out took fish.  The same NK & DW, plus an orange R&R bleeding belly were the best spoons for us.  The water had a nice color to it and we found temps around 43-46 degrees.  Down speeds of 2.2-2.5mph were best for us today, and we were working in 10-18 FOW for most of the day.

This has to be the best brown trout fishing we've had in several years.  Why aren't you up here???  Give me a call to set up your trip on Billy V II.
