Today I was joined by Wayne and Curt, who are from Maine.  Curt is leaving for the Navy in a few weeks and his Dad brought him to Fair Haven as a high school graduation present/Navy send-off.  The guys were anxious to hook up with a King or two, and boy oh boy did the fish cooperate!  We took most of our fish on Spin Dr./fly combos fished off of downriggers and wire divers.  We ran out to 250 FOW and found our target temps down 80-90'.  We covered the strike zone with combos like the White double crush glow Spin Dr./Siggs Rigs Blue Dolphin and the Green double crush glow Spin Dr./Siggs Rigs Green Hypnotist and went to work.  The kings were very cooperative and gave us lots of opportunities.  Flasher/fly combos were the hot ticket, but we did manage a few fish on spoons today as well.  Our best spoons were the R&R watermelon w/grape dots and a mag sized Northern King glow frog.  The guys had a bit of a case of the "drops" today, but they kept at it and managed to boat several nice kings and even a bonus steelhead.  The fish were biting lightly for the most part and kept spitting hooks on us.  But these guys worked through it and ended the day with big smiles on their faces.







We found the best down speeds to be between 2.2 and 2.4 mph.  I sure am glad that we had all of our flys tied with that tandem hook, becasue there were quite a few fish all weekend that came in with only that hook in them.
