Fishing Report - August 5, 2007
Tony, Eddie, Al, and Andrew were up and at 'em really early today. After talking it over the night before, we decided to leave the dock a bit earlier this morning so that we could try and cash in on the early bite. We left the dock at 5:00am and ran out to 150FOW and set up. NOAA at least got the wind direction right this morning (out of the S), so we had a much smoother ride out to the fishing grounds today than we did on Saturday. We had a great sunrise out over Oswego this morning:

That Maui Wowie rig I've mentioned got bit a few more times this morning. Here's a picture of the set up:

That's an 8" blue double crush glow Spin Sr pulling a Siggs Rigs Maui fly. The fly is a blueish color, but it has what looks to be some mirage in it. It's been a good combo for us in the early mornings lately.
We worked hard for what we got again today, but these guys really wanted to fish for Kings (no brown trout fishin' for these guys!), so once again we planned our work and worked our plan and we were successful. Today we ventured out deep looking for some stability, and we took a king out over 550 FOW. We trolled out as far as 630 FOW today, but didn't find what we were looking for, so we headed back in and got a few bites in the 140-180 FOW range. The same flasher/fly combos as we had out yesterday got bit, and today's maagic down number was 2.6mph. Temps were still down at that 90' mark for us and we worked down as deep as 100' and up as high as 40' today. Here's a few shots of the guys with some of today's fish:

We had another fun day together, and I look forward to having these guys back on board again next year. Thanks for making a tough weekend of fishing a very enjoyable one for me fellas!
Until next time, Fish On!
