Fishing Report - Aug. 11, 2007

Today I had the pleasure of fishing with Jack, Mike, Peter, and Steve.  The charter was Jack's birthday present from his son and grandsons...what a great way to spend a birthday!  The reports out of the Eastern Basin hadn't been very good over the past 10 days or so, so I pointed the Billy V II towards the lake with high hopes that the fishing had improved over night.  We weren't disappointed today, as we came real close to boxing a 4 man limit, which was a welcome surprise considering the reports of late.  We hooked up with a couple of majors and a bunch of smaller kings today.  Best lures for us today were the Dalmatian/Siggs Rigs Blue Dolphin, Black Death, Maui Wowie, and the JV Cheerleader.  All got bit multiple times today.  We also took a King on a Northern King Watermelon w/grape dots spoon, our only spoon bite of the day.  We worked from 100FOW out to 450FOW and found bait and marks scattered, but willing to cooperate today.  Best dipsy setting were 250' out on a .5 setting, and 330' out on a 2.5 setting.  Best rigger depths were 80-100' down.  We found 40 degree water down 100' and set up in and around that.  We had stretches of action where we'd land three fish in a matter of 10 minutes followed by 90 minutes of searching for more fish, then we'd hook back up with another two or three fish.

I think the smiles say it all!

Until next time, Fish On!
