Fishing Report. Aug. 12, 2007

Today Joe, Lou, John, Dan, and Mitch joined me for their annual adventure out on Lake Ontario.  After the great fishing yesterday, I had high expectations for today.  But Lake Ontario had a different idea.  We were greeted by calm seas, bright sun, and scattered and dis-interested fish today.  What a difference a day makes!  We set up at first light in 100 FOW and Joe immediately hooked up with and landed a beautiful 22lb. King on a Dalmatian Spinny/Siggs Rigs Blue Dolphin set-up on a wire dipsy.  We were thinking that today was really gonna be our day, as we had a great screen with tons of bait and fish and a nice fat king in the box!  When we looped back around over our way point after we landed that first fish, that great screen had already disappeared.  We messed around inside of 100 FOW for a bit trying to find the fish that had disappeared on us, but we just couldn't get them to go.  We turned and headed out to deeper water hoping to find some more cooperative fish, and our persistence paid off as Mitch landed his first-ever King...this was a real joy for me to watch as Mitch was seriously stoked to be on this fish!  High fives, cheers and smiles were everywhere on teh boat when we finally boated the fish.  Mitch was so stoked that he even puckered up and gave the fish a big kiss!

The same lures that fired for us yesterday fired for us again today, and once again we found that 40 degree water down 100'.  Our best down speed was 2.6mph today. The best screen of the day was in close in 80-100FOW, but that disappeared on us as soon as the sun came up.  After that, it was 500-650FOW before we found anything exciting.

Joe and his crew are some of my favorite guys to fish with, and even though we didn't hit them as hard as we did the day before, we still had lots of laughs (even though Joe had a few lame jokes mixed in with the good ones) and we all had a great day.  Thanks for another fun-filled day guys!

I'll be at the lake from August 18th-26th with charters every day.  I'll do my best to get reports up here during the week, but we have limited internet access at the lake.  I still have Tues., Aug. 21st open and available for a charter, so if you're looking for a last minute trip, please give me a call at (607)592-9012.

Until next time, Fish On!
