Fishing Report - August 22, 2007
The South wind has been blowing for several days now and subsequently the temps we've been looking for are a lot closer to the shore and a lot higher in the water column. Today we were joined by two guys I teach skiing with, Dan and Chris, and a friend of theirs, Bob. I've been looking forward to this trip the whole summer because Dan is one of my best friend and we never seem to be able to spend any time together in the summer. He's the President of a very successful company down in Elmira and his time is dedicated to that and his awesome family all summer long. Now the winter is another story....find him at Greek Peak and you'll likely find me. We work the same schedule over there and love to ski together. We ski together at least three times a week all winter long. Dan, Chris, Jay and I have been on some pretty amazing ski trips together out West (ask Chris about the scar on his forehead sometime!!), but today was the first time that Dan & Chris have joined Jay and I for a day on Lake Ontario.
We worked 60-70FOW today and found lots of cooperative Kings holding right on the bottom in the ICE water. Today was a green day...anything green that we put down took fish today...Green Spinnys pulling Siggs Rigs Green Hypnotists, Green Apples, Green Crinkles...anything green. Wire divers took all of the hits today We couldn't buy a rigger release.
I think the guys were very impressed with the brute strength of these fish. We didn't murder the fish like we did on Monday, but we did put a very respectable box of fish together for the guys. I know that there were lots of sore and tired arms on the boat at the end of the day!

We haven't hit any LOC Derby fish yet this week, although Dan did have a big one take a hard right at the back of the boat and wrap the line around everything...it happened in a nano-second and before we could do anything to help him with the fish evertyhing was broken off. Guess that's why they call it fishing and not catching.
Thanks a TON for coming out today guys. Jay and I had a ball with you and we look forward to fishing with you again next year!
Until next time, Fish On!
