Fishing Report - August 25, 2007

Today we fished with Jason, Kevin, Keith, and Scott.  First thing in the morning we went back to the spot where we found yesterday's fish only to find that they had moved.  Bummer.  So we headed even further East and once we got out towards Ford Shoals in 160 FOW we found a few marks.  Our 500' copper rig pulling a new Northern King Copper NBK took the first shot of the day, but we dropped the fish.  Bummer again.  We boated a few smaller Kings and then another Dreamweaver Super glow spoon fired off the 50' rigger and we landed this gorgeous steelhead:

After we boated that fish one of the guys (who shall remain nameless) heads down into the cuddy and says "Who wants something to eat?  I have some bananas!"  BANANAS?!?!?!  ARE YOU KIDDING ME???  I said "You must be joking, right??  You didn't bring bananas on board, did you?"  And sure enough, the nameless banana-eater emerges from the cabin with two bananas in hand.  I told him to eat them as quick as he could and get those banana peels off the boat!  So after some good-natured ribbing about bringing bananas on board, two of the guys eat the darn things and we go back to fishing.  Shortly thereafter, we hook up on that same Northern King copper NBK on the 500' copper again, and the second banana-eater is on the rod.  We get a sure-fire LOC Derby fish right to the back of the boat and we have net in hand and we're gonna land this thing, right?  Nope.  As soon as the fish saw that a banana-eater was on the rod he took a hard right hand turn and wrapped our leader around one of our wire divers and he was was gone.  Just like that.  We didn't even have a micro-second to react.  Major Bummer.  As we started talking about the fish that we had lost today it was mentioned by one of the non banana-eaters that the only two fish we lost today were lost by the guys who ate the bananas.  Is this a coincidence????  Hmmmm....I think NOT!

Just kidding guys....we had a great time with you today, and even though we found tough fishing and very few marks, we still put a few fish in the box and laughed a lot.

We thoroughly enjoyed having you on board and we look forward to fishing with you again next year.  Just be sure to leave the bananas at home next time, ok?

Until next time, Fish On!
