We've recently begun running a new downrigger release that we like an awful lot.  The Chamberlain release has solved some of the most common problems with most releases with its innovative design.   False releases and small fish that are not detected are two of the biggest problems with most downrigger releases.  The Chamberlain release is designed to eliminate both of those problems with its patented two adjustment design.

The vertical adjustment (the rod side) is designed to allow the fisherman to load the rod against the release.  This is important because once the release trips, the slack in the line is instantly taken up by the rod, and your hookup percentages are greatly improved.  We like to crank the rod tip down and this release allows us to do so without impacting our ability to detect even the smallest of strikes.

The horizontal adjustment is what makes the Chamberlain so unique.  The adjustment is so sensitive that when set properly, it'll release when even the smallest of fish hits the lure.  No more dragging along little shakers for hours on end.  It takes some fiddling with to get it set just right, but once it's set you can forget about it and just go fishing.
