Fishing Report - August 20, 2008

Today we were joined by Alex and Marcus for their second trip of the year on Lake Ontario.  You might remember that Alex and Marcus joined us for a day filled with brown trout back in May, but today they were after the mighty King Salmon and Lake Ontario delivered them a limit catch that I'm sure they'll remember for a long, long time.  Here's the view I had from the Captain's chair for most of the day although I did get into the action at the back of the boat for at little bit:

We worked and area West of the chute from 100-230FOW that held both bait and active fish and we found that our Dreamweaver 42nd spoon fished off of our 140' rigger and a Chartreuse Pro-Chip/Sigg's Rigs Mountain Dew Pulse fly fished off of a diver set out 375' on a #2 did most of the damage.  Our best down speed was 2.2-2.4mph on our  Depth Raider and direction of troll didn't seem to matter.

We didn't find the huge LOC Derby-winning King we were after, but we did manage to find our limit of nice 18-20 Lb. Kings and we even took a bonus steelhead to round out our box.  We had a fantastic day and we were glad to finally be fishing on calm seas.  Thank you Mother Nature!!

We have a double tomorrow but I'll do my best to get a report from each trip up and posted before I hit the pillow tomorrow night.

Thanks for a fabulous day Alex and Marcus.  You truly had a day for Kings and we were glad to share it with you!

Until Next Time,
Fish On!!
