It's been a while!

I was just looking back at the last entry that I made here, and it's been over a month.  Time sure does fly!  Sorry for being such a slacker lately.  September and October have just gotten away from me this year.  Here's a quick update on what we've been up to since mid-September:

We got the boat pulled out of the water and into the storage barn back in late September.  I pulled the teak trim off of the hard top and took it home for a good cleaning/brightening/refinishing.  It had gotten pretty nasty looking so it was time for some TLC.  Here are a few shots of the trim before it came off the boat:

Teak is really pretty easy to clean up; it's just time consuming.  I used Star Brite Teak Cleaner to get the mildew off of it, then used Star Brite Teak Brightener to bring it back to it's natural color, then applied three coats of Sikkens Cetol for it's final finish.  Here's a shot of the teak before I did any work to it, after cleaning/brightening, and then after it's first coat of Sikkens:

It looks even better after three coats of Sikkens, so I'm excited to see it back on the boat.  I'm planning to try and get up to the boat to put the trim back on the hardtop sometime soon.  I'll post pictures of it after I have it back on so you can see the difference.

On another note, back in the spring I took a picture of a King that we had caught with a prototype Dreamweaver Area 51 spoon and posted it here and on a few of the fishing message boards that I frequent.  It turns out that as a result  DW was getting quite a few calls asking about where the spoon could be bought, so they decided to add it to their product lineup.  It's now available at several retail stores and ended up being one of our very best spoons of the season.  Back in the summer I got an email from Capt. Scott who run GL Outdoors and he asked if they could use that picture on their website.  Of course I agreed, and they've had this shot on their home page for a few months now:

The next time any of you need a Dreamweaver product, you should log onto their site and check them out.  They carry the largest selection of DW spoons and Spin Doctors that I've seen anywhere before.  I don't know for certain, but it sure looks to me like they carry every DW pattern available.  To top it off, they're really great guys.  Give 'em a look sometime at www.gloutdoorstore.com

I was in Florida all of last week on business, and I plan to be in Oregon for most of next week for more of the same, so travel has dominated my schedule lately.  Once I get back from OR, I'll have some time for bowhunting in November, then I'll jump into ski season right around Thanksgiving.  It'll be a busy fall for me, but I'll do my best to keep the fishing info coming.

Be sure to stay tuned...there's change in the air and we'll be telling you more about it here very soon!

Until Next Time,
Fish On!
