NEW from Cannon
As most of you know, we're big fans of our Cannon downriggers. About the only thing we've ever wanted to see improved on them was the rod holders. They worked OK for us, but we've always wanted more adjustability from them. Well, leave it to guys at Cannon to take care of that for us! New for 2009, Cannon will be introducing a set of highly adjustable aluminum rod holders that fit under the downrigger base. We're really excited about them and we'll be running them under our Mag 10 HS riggers next year. According to Dan Bennett, Cannon Product Manager, the pistol grip on the front of the holder is squeezed to adjust the holder up and down. It also has the ability to ratchet into the up position. Cannon has also refined the ratcheting feature so it is not metal on metal, which will end up binding over time. They've added a composite tip to the ratchet, which gives a smooth action when ratcheting and is replaceable if it ever wears out. The holder mounts between the swivel base and the downrigger mounting base. We think they're really cool and can't wait to get them on the boat. You'll find them at your favorite Cannon dealer this off-season.

Cannon has also come out with a series of track mounted holders that can be hard mounted to your gunwale or it can be mounted in their new track. The holders are also compatible with Bert's and Traxstech track. These holders operate in the same fashion as the downrigger holders I've mentioned above.
It looks to us like Cannon has really done their homework with these additions. Feel free to stop by the boat sometime next season and we'll happily show you our new Cannon downrigger mounted holders.
Stay tuned here for more new stuff for 2009. We'll report it just as soon as we get the info and some pics from the manufacturers.
Until Next Time,
Fish On!!
